the Legend of Zelda, Unity Remastered

Technique Used: Unity, C# Co-op With Varun Rajesh

     As the team of 2, we implement the first dungeon of the Legend of Zelda, a classic Action-Adventure game created in 1986, with Unity. We made the all the game features as similar as the original game, and also created a custom level.

My Contribution:

  • Physical Mechanisms: Colliders, Movement of Flying Weapons
  • Weapons: Punch, Arrow, Boomerang, Bombs. Visual Effects and Damage Detection.
  • New Enemy Designed: Magician Boss that create blocks as a custom level.

Computer Lab Simulator, Virtual Reality Game

University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI 2023.01 – 2023.02
Technique Used: Unreal, Blueprint Co-op With Mehar Chhatwal

     As the team of 2, we implement a simulator in VR of the computer lab at the Bob and Betty Beyster Building. The game has NPC interaction, affordance of fire alarm, printer, white board, light switches, trash bin, and Thor's hammer as our custom feature!

My Contribution:

  • Affordance: Fire Alarm Toggler, Printer as Object Copy Machine, Trash Can
  • Map Buidling: Place and Adjust objects to imitate the real computer lab.
  • Passerby: NPC that moves with animation outside the lab.
  • Light Switches: Light Effect and Controls.

Checkmate

University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI Two weeks in 2023.02
Technique Used: Unity, C# Individual

     This is my individual project. Checkmate is a strategy game with rogue-like elements. The player will be using different chess spirits to defeat enemies.

My Work:

  • Design of Entire Game: 14 chess spirits all with different mechanism. Random generated spirits in sequence, reward chosen, special skills to versatilize the game, cumulate stats when entering the next level.
  • Special Design: A boss that constrains the think time of the player.
  • Detailed Tutorial: Help the player to get along with the complex mechanism.
  • Iterative Process: Playtest with peers, friends, and families to generate new Iteration.
  • Robustness-sustained Code Quality: Convenient for Future Updates.
  • Visual Effects (Simple Animation), Sound Effect, and Evaluations

Ann Arbor Go! Augmented Reality Game

University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI 2023.02 – 2023.03
Technique Used: Unity AR, C# Co-op With Mehar Chhatwal

     As the team of 2, we implement a similar game as Pokemon Go: the player can walk on the street of Ann Arbor to explore different landmarks, plant seeds of trees in interactive mode and get rewards when the tree grows up. There are bad squirrels around the trees, and the player can defeat them by throwing acorns. Also we implement chocolates that fatten the squirrels as a custome feature.

My Contribution:

  • UI: landmark page, "shop" page.
  • Augmented Object Interaction: Trees and Squirrels as Augmented Reality Objects.

Cosmic Flux Frenzy

     Cosmic Flux Frenzy offers a unique gaming experience due to its innovative magnetic weapon system. The player can both repel and attract enemies, creating an unparalleled level of control and strategy. This game mechanic offers a depth of gameplay that is only fully realized as players explore the game's world and uncover its secrets. As an Action-adventure with some RPG mechanics, it embarks on a space-faring adventure and befriend aliens. Main mechanic revolves around using magnets to repel and attract.

My Contribution:

  • UI: RPG icons, maps, shop panel, and other UI dialogues.
  • Game Mechanism: Planet, level control, target control
  • Aesthetics: Space rotating, smooth movement & acceleration, colliders
  • Map design
  • Design of Stats: damage, move speed, difficulty...
